“I can’t believe that you have to leave already,” Christie said sadly. “It seems like you’ve only been here for a few days.”
“I know. I’m going to miss you so much!”
“I really wish you didn’t have to go so soon.”
“Me neither. I’m going to miss everyone.”
The two girls hugged each other quietly. Christie was so upset she actually cried. They hugged for a few more moments and said there goodbyes. Then Megan announced she had better go say goodbye to Sam because she still had to pack.
“I came to tell you goodbye. My grandmother is driving me to the airport tomorrow morning,” Megan told Sam quietly.
“Do you really have to leave? Can’t you stay longer,” Sam asked.
“I wish I could. I...I’m going to miss you,” she managed to choke out. She was on the verge of tears.
“I had hoped we would have more time together than this.” At that comment she couldn’t hold the tears back any longer. She had hoped the same thing. She was going to miss him horribly.
Sam wiped away the tear that was rolling down her cheek and pulled her into his arms. “I hate seeing you cry,” Sam whispered to her. “I’m going to miss you so much it will hurt.”
“I will too,” she uttered.
The two just stood there hugging. Neither one wanted to let the other go. They didn’t want this moment to end. They acted like they were saying goodbye for the last time, when there really would be many more times to come.
