Making the Choice

Two girls

Crushing on the same guy

He shares the interest

But in only one

She must make the choice

The girls have known each other years

And are as close as can be

They are the best of friends

They act more like sisters

Sisters who happen to share a crush

The guy has not been around as long

He is a newer addition to the group

But both girls find him amazing

And wish he liked the other

While they also wished he liked them

She must decide

Hurt him or hurt her

Either way she will feel the pain

Work on crumbling a friendship

Or strengthening a budding relationship

Her friend tells her it is her choice

She wants her to go for it

She will make the sacrifice

She will risk the pain

She just wants both to be happy

And there lies one of the problems

The problems the other faces

How can she feel good about him

When she will be breaking her friend's heart

Breaking her own heart

He gets the connections

And lets her know how he feels

Wondering if she feels the same

She says she does

But she cannot hurt her friend

She puts her heart on the line

And turns down the chance at love

Because she knows

She cannot do that to a friend

She cannot betray her like that

She thinks about it for a while

And breaks her own heart

Hoping not to break his

As she saves her friend
