Reading the names on the wall,
I begin to fall.
Slowly I feel,
I am losing it all.
We were in it together
From the start.
Now their faces forever
Will be in my heart.
We went through Hell
And back,
Yet their names,
I seem to forever lack.
Why did they have to go?
Why not me?
The reason for this end,
What could it be?
I wish I had the choice
To take their place.
I would do it no question,
With no doubts to mention.
Picturing the memories,
Easiest thing ever done.
Knowing they are gone,
Drains any fun.
Reading the names on the wall,
I begin to fall.
Slowly I feel
I am losing it all.
I'm dedicating this to all the veterans out there even though this is mainly from the view of a Vietnam veteran as the wall I talk about is the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall. God bless all of our soldiers and veterans.
I would also like to take the time to apologize for my extreme lack of posting since I haven't posted since September. With everything going on in life I just haven't had much time to post, and I haven't had many inspirations lately(it's been a few months since I've written a full poem but sshhh, that'll be our secret). I'll try to get on and post more often. I have another poem that I can post for you guys that I wrote a few months ago, and I have some others in the works. I also have been contacted by a writing contest I entered, apparently one of my poems placed although I do not know yet what place I received, I'll let you all know when I hear.
