Chapter 3

“Are you almost ready? Your flight leaves in an hour!” Mr. Matthew growled.

“Wouldn’t break my heart any,” muttered Megan the next morning.

“Now remember to call or write me every week or at least every other week.”

“I know, Mom.”

“And don’t forget to listen to your grandmother. Always do what she says. Be nice to your cousin. Remember you’re a guest, so don’t make your grandma do everything around the house. Help her out.”

“Mom, I know. I’m fifteen; you don’t have to treat me like a child.”

“I know Pumpkin. It’s just that you’ve never been so far from home by yourself before. And I’m worried.”

“I’ll be fine; although I’ll probably die of boredom.”

“Oh, I doubt that. I’m sure there are some of Christie’s friends that you can hang out with,” her mom said. Christie was her cousin. She lived in Fawnville too. She and Christie had only been born four months apart, so they were really close.

“Now you better get going or you’ll miss your flight,” her dad said.

“Ok. I love you guys.”

“Love you too, Sweetie. Oh, come here and give me a hug. I’m going to miss you so much,” her mother said while crying.

“I’ll miss you too. Now I have to go or I’ll miss my plane.”

“Ok, you’re right. You better go.”

She looked back and saw her parents waving as she gave the woman her ticket. “Ok, you may board the plane. Thank you for choosing our flight. Have a nice trip,” the woman said with a smile.

It had been 3 hours since she had fallen asleep on the plane. The flight was a total of 4 hours. It took a long time to get from Seattle to Fawnville. The plane would land at the airport in a city not to far away. It was about an hour from Fawnville. Her grandma would be waiting to pick her up there.

She looked across the aisle and a boy was staring at her. He looked about nineteen. He was giving her that look that she had gotten from a few other boys. Even though she was only fifteen, she looked about eighteen. She was used to getting looked at by older guys. Sometimes when she was out with her family, her dad would even point out when a guy checked her out. She hated the look guys gave her. She’d be fine if it was a look that said she was beautiful, but it was usually one that said that they thought she was “hot”. This was the look the boy across the aisle was giving her. She just ignored him like she did with the others. She didn’t care what he thought. She wasn’t going to let it bother her.

“The plane will be landing in 5 minutes. Please buckle your seatbelts,” the flight attendant announced over the intercom. Megan buckled up and got ready for the bumpy landing.
