So Long My Friend

You say we are best friends,

But I have learned it is all lies and pretend.

When you are with me you are one way,

When you are not you are another.

What happened to those parties,

And hanging out after school.

What happened to this friendship,

And us being like sisters.

We use to tell each other jokes,

But I guess now they are on me.

I thought we were still close,

But I guess I was wrong.

Now you talk behind my back,

Instead of telling me face to face.

Then you go all buddy-buddy,

When we are together.

We have been friends for so long,

I thought our friendship would last.

You might say I am the one who has changed,

But there you would be wrong.

I wish we could go back,

To how things were before.

Back to when we were little,

And the worst thing was skipping snack.

I miss my sister,

I miss my best friend.

I miss the person I thought you still were,

The one I can no longer see.

I hope you are happy,

With the way things turn out.

Enjoy your new friends,

And your newly found life.

When you need a helping hand,

And no one else is there,

Do not even bother to look back,

For I will be missing too.

Do not try to fix this,

Do not try to act like my friend.

For I know the truth now,

And I can and will move on.
